THIS WEB-SITE IS THE OFFICIAL WRITTEN VOICE OF THE WBTC AMATEUR RADIO GROUP
The Wasatch Back Tri County Amateur Radio Group consists of 79 Ham Radio Operators and one Support Operator mostly residing in three neighboring rural northern Utah counties of Wasatch, Summit and Morgan. Members also reside in Utah and Salt Lake Counties and are usually assigned to the tri-county nearest them. Members presently range from 15 to 85 years of age.
The Group is governed by an Operating Management Statement. County activities are directed by a County Net Manager, and an elected Group Coordinator oversees the administrative coordination.
A weekly net is conducted every Thursday at 2100 hours local time on the 147,360 kHz repeater, located on Lewis Peak, in Summit County. Backup simplex frequencies are 145,610 (Primary) and 146,730 (secondary). The packet frequency is 145,010 kHz.
Three Group Eyeballs are held during the year; winter (first Saturday in February), spring/summer (first Saturday in June), and fall (second Saturday in October). Each being held in one of the three participating tri-counties.
There is no application for membership. Membership is established by participation.
Group Activities consist of: WBTC VHF Net check-ins, Group field events such as Field Day, monthly State RACES nets, RACES/ARES Fall Conference, annual Utah VHF Society Swap Meet, Group tri-yearly Eyeballs, and Group training events.
Participate in three group activities in one month to get established on the check-in log. Then maintain 2 group activities for each month thereafter to remain on the log. All members conduct Net Functions, such as Net Control Station (NCS), check-ins, or training functions on the weekly nets.
Member Dues are $10 per year; due at each February Eyeball.
There are two kinds of membership: 1) FCC licensed Amateur Radio Operator; and 2) non-licensed Support Operator.
A Support Operator must maintain membership eligibility through participation just as the FCC Licensed Anateur Radio Operator. SOs check into the Group Nets as Third Party traffic; under direct supervision of an FCC licensed operator. |
